What We Do

Now, with the COVID-19 crisis, the demand for a trusted network is even higher and the need of language skills even more important. To adapt to the current situation, we have moved our operations online and continue our efforts with renewed determination.

During this time of lockdown RNC is offering many online resources:

  • We facilitate English classes and Bahasa Malay classes digitally
  • We upload videos and live streams of classes to keep participants engaged and uplift spirits such as make-up and craft classes or for example digital sessions with a health care worker
  • We operate as a digital platform to share information and resources with refugees on request

Classes

We offer English and Bahasa Malaysia classes to provide a crucial stepping stone for the refugee community to seek job opportunities and a more steady livelihood source. We also offer classes for art, handicraft and grooming; and we coordinate with job agencies to find placements. The classes are taught by our wonderful volunteers. The response from the refugee community, who wish to better equip themselves for income generating opportunities, has been great!

Bazars

We also promote local community engagement by participating in charity bazaars, selling products from our artisans. We even visit local villages to share and exchange experiences. While we are grateful for the achievements that we have made so far, we also realize there is still much to be done. We are looking forward to expand our program further in 2021 and we hope very much that we will be able to see you at your local bazar very soon.

“Each refugee is full of strength, courage and untouched talents that can flourish and become ONE in a million provided that his/her capabilities are strenghtened and directed to the right path.”
